What is Cellfina?

Cellulite is caused by connective bands (called fascia) beneath your skin which weave around your underlying fat and create dimpling above the skin. That is why treatments for cellulite reduction prior to Cellfina which don’t affect the structural problems beneath the skin have been largely ineffective.  Cellfina’s technology tackles cellulite by breaking up and releasing the fibrous bands just beneath the surface of the skin, allowing the skin to smooth itself out.  Results from this novel approach to cellulite elimination can be observed in as little as three days, and last up to three years, if not more.

FAQs about Cellfina Cellulite Treatment

How soon will I notice results?

Results for Cellfina can be noticed in as little as three days. In clinical studies, patient satisfaction was at 85% after three months, 94% after one year, and 93% at three years—the highest long-term patient satisfaction rates compared to other leading cellulite treatments.

How long do results last?

Final results for Cellfina have been known to last at least twelve months for most patients, the longest FDA clearance for the treatment of cellulite. Cellfina results can last up to three years.

How many treatments will I need?

Cellfina is designed to be a one-time treatment. For most patients, a single treatment is needed to achieve optimal results, unless new cellulite spots develop in the future.

Will I need to take time off?

There is limited downtime associated with Cellfina. Minor bruising and/or soreness can occur in targeted treatment areas; however, these side effects dissipate relatively quickly and most patients are able to return to their regular daily activities the same day. In clinical studies, over 90% of patients showed no signs of bruising four weeks following the procedure.

What are post-procedure expectations?

Post procedure patient may resume normal daily activities. There are no restrictions for physical or sexual activity. Patients may feel the tightening effects the same day, others will take more time and notice changes at two weeks. Immediately there may be mild cramping, but this should resolve within 24 hours.

Cellfina vs Cellulaze, what’s better?

Some clients researching cellulite reduction treatments on the Internet have asked us what is better, Cellfina or Cellulaze.

In order to understand the differences in the 2 procedures, it’s important to understand what causes cellulite. The dimpled skin that shows up mainly in the buttocks and thighs is caused by fibrous bands attached to the skin, pulling it down. Fat pushes through gaps between the bands, resulting in cellulite.

Cellulaze mechanically disrupts the bands that are causing dimpled cellulite. But it is less precise and nowhere near as effective as Cellfina as evidenced.

Cellfina releases the bands that cause cellulite with tiny blades in a procedure that is minimally invasive and produces results within a few days. Cellulaze uses an older technology that employs heat to release the bands and results take longer to appear and tend to be less precise and less long-lasting.

Rankings on the popular reference site RealSelf in early 2017 showed Cellfina with a very high “worth it” ranking of 90% while Cellulaze had a “worth it” rating of only 55%.

This is further backed up by physician rankings on RealSelf as well as popular US medical aesthetics researcher Grant Stevens who wrote: “I’ve used Endermologie (LPG), VelaShape (Syneron Medical), SmoothShapes (Biocellulase), Velashape I, II and III, and I own two Cellulazes” Dr. Stevens says. “Cellulaze works, but it costs so much money to run, it’s very hot, it has risks and complications and it doesn’t have longevity. All of my Cellulaze patients came back.’”  Dr. Stevens stated that Cellfina treatment and results rival everything he had to offer his patients with cellulite.
